“He will reprove the world…of righteousness… Of righteousness, because I go to my Father…” John 16:8-11
When Jesus made this statement, it was just before He would go to Calvary and offer up the ultimate sacrifice for mankind. He knew that He had been born to die; He knew that without His sacrifice mankind would be doomed!
Consequently, Jesus died on Calvary; was buried in Joseph’s tomb; rose Sunday morning; ascended to heaven permanently 40 days later and is now cleansing the heavenly sanctuary, in preparation to return and claim His children.
Jesus had declared to Nicodemus, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:14-18
And later, as he was teaching in the temple and some Greeks came to see him, He began preaching to them and reaffirmed what He had said to Nicodemus: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” John 12:32
Once mankind realized, through the preaching of the disciples, under the leading of the Holy Spirit that Jesus was truly the Messiah and that salvation could come only through believing on Him (Acts 4:12), the reproof of righteousness laid upon them, as they claimed Him as their Savior.
I thank God for Jesus Christ!
